You are so about to unleash the wrath of your amazing project on Kickstarter. But... you don't have a video. How will you educate people on the powers of your amazing product. With text, maybe a few images? Good luck, if you're like us, the first thing you do when you visit a kickstarter project is click that big shiny play button, then maybe, just maybe, you'll read the description copy.
Did you know that projects with videos on kickstarter succeed at a much higher rate than those without (50% vs. 30%). So, if you are looking to create a kickstarter video keep these 3 rules in mind:
1. Be as real as possibleYou could have the coolest project of all time but if you come off incompetent or disingenuous, backers will have a difficult time connecting to your project
2. Hire us :-) Or at least hire someone who makes videos professionallyLook, you've got a lot going on why stop production on your project to deal with the stress of creating your own video. Remove this stress from your plate and delegate to an agency or individual. Let's face it, this could be your first and only chance to convince people to back your project.
3. You've got one chance to impress. Make it count
THINK IT THROUGH. It's human nature to get excited about your project, call your cousin Steve over and film a half baked video. Planning your shoot and content is extremely important. This poor planning also results in poor production quality. Remember at the end of the day your job is to inspire action from your viewer, not demonstrate that you know how to use iMovie.
